In a sense - Innocence

When sleepers lied
awake and apart
morals have [now] dyed
affection their art.
The stars have cast
shadows on their bed
Their attempt the last
To wake the guilty dead,
Searching and lost
unknowingly the victim
Never knowing the cost
that slowly kills them.

Looking Down

Can you hear me?
I scream from the darkest corners
captive to be ransomed
Blinded, bound, Bleed.
You see me everywhere
I have a face as well
Different land, darker skin
A burden you won't bear
I have seen what you will never
I have raped and plundered
A silent marksman
12 years feels like forever

Toss me a crumb, a dime
I'm killing my own
just to stay alive
You don't have the time
The top of the world
never looked so great
Impoverished and hungry
The lies, the sex, the hate.
