The Door [2]

Splintered yet intact
the door remained shut tight
the last key damaging
with no winner to our fight
The mat is well worn
from those who tried
to break the door down
strengthened by their cry
Quiet and silent
another did appear
her key wanting a turn
the other side was near
The old door creaked
yet moved with ease
as her hands pushed it wide
the heart she finally sees

And here we remain
behind an opened door
the key in her smile
there is nothing more.
